In this week’s Deals of the Week, I have suggestions on how to save money while treating yourself at the same time, avoid paying for luggage and score a free cup of coffee.

Save Up to $100 on a Massage

Oct. 15-21 is Spa Week, when more than 700 spas nationwide — including Red Door, Massage Envy and Clarins — will offer women and men savings of up to $100. All full-service spa treatments cost just $50, including facials, massages and manicures/pedicures.

But here's the rub (pun intended): The spas are offering only a limited number of appointments for their $50 services. I’m clueing you in now so you can still get one, since it’s likely the deals will be scooped up by the time Spa Week rolls around. Spas started taking reservations last week.

You can find participating spas and make an appointment by going to the Spa Week website.

Never Buy Luggage Again

Recently, I walked into an L.L. Bean store and walked out with a $200 suitcase for free. No, I didn't steal it. Since I had purchased an L.L. Bean suitcase a few years ago and L.L. Bean offers a lifetime guarantee on its items, when the wheels on my old suitcase broke, the store replaced it for free.

When you’re shopping for luggage, look for lifetime guarantees and warranties as well as price. Like me, you might be able to get a free replacement when the time comes. JanSport and Boyt Luggage provide them. In fact, L.L. Bean and Lands' End guarantee everything they manufacture. (I’ve received free down vests and winter jackets from both companies.)

Guzzle a Free Cup of Coffee

National Coffee Day is Saturday, Sept. 29, and restaurants will be brewing up free cups for customers. But some places are getting a jump on the promotion by starting their freebies early.

McDonald's locations on the East Coast have been offering free small cups of coffee all week and today (Friday, Sept. 28) is free coffee day at 7-Eleven stores. From 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. you can get a large coffee, cappuccino, latte or tea while supplies last.

On Saturday, you can get a free 12-ounce cup at Krispy Kreme and enter its contest to be one of 75 people who’ll win a year of free coffee. At Tim Horton's Cafe and Bake Shop, if you buy one coffee, you get a second one of the same or smaller size for free. But you’ll need to first print out a coupon from the company’s Facebook page.

Some independent coffee shops will be giving out free drinks, too. So if you buy your coffee at one of them, ask.

If you prefer to buy your joe at Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks, I’m sorry to report the bitter news: They aren't participating in National Coffee Day.
