One of Next Avenue’s Influencers in Aging 2015, Dr. Philip Pizzo is the creator and founding director of The Stanford Distinguished Careers Institute. He launched the year-long program to let midlife professionals “transform themselves with social impact at the local, national and global levels.” Pizzo, a pediatric oncologist by training, was dean of the Stanford University School of Medicine from 2001 to 2012 and was a professor of pediatrics, microbiology and immunology there.
