At a nursing home in St. Paul, Minn., a teacup poodle is lifting residents’ spirits by visiting those who most seem to need comfort and support. The dog, Nala, is not a trained therapy dog, but belongs to a staff member.

Local TV station KARE-11 ran this quick segment on the touching story. As the greenhouse movement pushes traditional nursing homes to be more homelike, one that welcomes a pet and shows the healing that can happen through the animal-human bond is something to laud.
