Why I Love Billy Joel’s State of Mind

The original Piano Man is the epitome of cool while also exemplifying the spirit of intergenerational cooperation

I've never been a big Billy Joel fan, but this video just converted me. It was filmed during "An Evening of Questions and Answers and a Little Bit of Music" at Vanderbilt University in January. Joel does a nice job on his classic “New York State of Mind," but it's his warmth and graciousness to the student who accompanies him that gave me chills.
