The country music singer is going strong with a new album and TV special

The Coal Miner’s Daughter, Loretta Lynn, is turning 84 today (April 14), and the country music singer who grew up in poverty in Butcher Holler, Ky., and married at 15 has plenty to celebrate. The 2013 Presidential Medal of Freedom winner has a new album called Full Circle, and she’s the subject of the recent PBS American Masters special, Loretta Lynn: Still a Mountain Girl. Lynn says her age gives her more freedom to sing about whatever she wants. We thought she’d already been doing that for 60 years.
