Pauline Boss, Ph.D.

Pauline Boss, Ph.D., is emeritus professor at the University of Minnesota and a family therapist in St Paul, Minn. She is a popular speaker and consultant on the topic of ambiguous loss, a term she coined in the 1970s. She wrote the first book on the topic, Ambiguous Loss (Harvard, 1999), and her most recent book, which she addressed to families, is Loving Someone Who Has Dementia: How to Find Hope While Coping With Stress and Grief (Jossey-Bass, 2011).
