A wife's anticipatory grief in the face of her husband's health problems

Barbara Archibald, 77, and her second husband Tom, have raised five children together and now share 11 grandchildren. They've lived in Boston, Switzerland and the U.S. Virgin Islands where Barbara practiced law for 10 years. The couple now lives in St. Petersburg, Fla. Aside from an occasional diary, the only writing Barbara has done has been legalistic. She says, "It felt strange but liberating to be writing about personal matters which might be scattered to the winds."
