A puppeteer since he was 8 years old, Caroll Spinney has been the man inside Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch since Sesame Street began in 1969. He has been honored with six Emmy Awards (one being the Lifetime Achievement Award), two Grammy honors, two gold records, four honorary degrees, and a star on Hollywood Boulevard. He has written and illustrated his autobiography, The Wisdom of Big Bird, and most recently he had a full-length documentary made about his life story called I Am Big Bird.
