Grandparents Stepping Up for Kids in Opioid Crisis
An Influencer in Aging says they need more support for their efforts

Jaia Peterson Lent is a leading advocate for “grandfamilies” — families headed by grandparents or other extended relatives. In her role as deputy executive director at Generations United, an organization devoted to intergenerational collaboration, Lent lobbies for legislation aimed at meeting the specific needs of these non-traditional families. Among her many accomplishments: testifying before Congress about the impact of the opioid epidemic on grandfamilies and coordinating national “GrandRallies”that bring grandparents and their families to Capitol Hill.
