How to Make a Community More 'Age-Friendly'
A 2017 Influencer in Aging says it’ll take the whole village

Kathy Black began her career in nursing. That background gave her a uniquely comprehensive perspective in her current academic work in gerontology, promoting healthy aging and planning for end-of-life care. In addition to being a professor of aging studies and social work at the University of South Florida: Sarasota-Manatee, Black also leads Age-Friendly Sarasota, an initiative that aims to promote healthy living and engagement for community members of all ages. The program is a part of the World Health Organization’s Global Network of Age-friendly Cities and Communities.
